Negative feedback mechanism

after attempting some questions related to coordination and regulation in human body, this ignited a funny (but thoughtful for a not matured student like me ) thought in my mind.

since the human body, k, all the five kingdoms or just said all living things have their own ways to regulate back any abnormal conditions to their set points, what is about our mother Earth? the home of all living and non living things, yet the origin of most of the creatures. And we called her as our Mother.

A doubt comes in now.

Does she have her own regulation and control system?

Nowadays, people are mentioning about greenhouse effect. While this effect on the Earth is quite a big issue. Ice bergs in Arctic and Antartic melt and hence the sea level increases by time, and the most significant effect that everyone can detect it easily is the rise in temperature, im sure that you are aware of this! See, you are now switching on the air conditioner to cool your body. Refreshing,doesnt it?

So, are you trying to boo- this phenomenon?

However, long long time ago (there is a princess who....) Earth was actually covered by a thick layer of ice, and the condition was extremely not suitable for occurrence of any life form. Thanks to this greenhouse effect, it caused the temperature to rise followed by melthing of the ice layer. This is how the sea was formed.

Did you catch my ball?

When the Earth was in a dramatically cold condition, maybe there's a receptor( perhaps) which detected it and the greenhouse effect was actually the action taken by the Earth to regulate it back to norm. Anywhere, i didnt know what the set point is, so can i assume that actually the regulation is still continuing until now since there still has greenhouse effect?..hmm..

and dont know how many years years later, the set point will only be achieved. ouch, not so dare to imagine it.

K, since the greenhouse effect is the action taken by Earth to increase temperature, there must be another opposite action which restores it back right? How and what is the process? so there must also have another specific receptor on Earth to detect the change? Negative feedback mechanism! and temperature once again drops to certain level.

This is a regulation process.
